Thoughts Factory are a band from Germany that plays a very progressive form of metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Lost" which will be released by Melodic Revolution Music.
The album starts out with sound effects before going into synths and a heavy sound along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as a good amount of melody which also leads to solos kicking in which leads to a more atmospheric sound and vocals
As the album moves on acoustic guitars are brought into the music while also keeping around the prog elements and returning to a heaver direction as well as bringing in elements of electronic music and a small amount of operatic female vocals and evil sounding spoken word parts but sticking mostly to melodic vocals.
After awhile the album goes for a more modern metal direction while having the melody of 80s traditional metal along with a great amount of prog elements and talented leads and solos as well as bringing in a short piano ballad before making a return to a heavy prog direction and sticking to that direction through the remainder of the album while also bringing in a power ballad
With this album Thoughts Factory bring in the heaviness of modern metal with the melody of 80s metal and a great amount of prog and symphonic elements to create an album t hat is very diverse and original.
Song lyrics are a concept album based on death and suicide, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for being a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on t his recording as well as some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Thoughts Factory are a very great sounding modern day progressive metal band and if you are a fan of of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Awakening" "Voices From Heaven" and "Death of A Dream". 8 out of 10.
