Bloodlet where a band from Florida that played a very heavy form of metalcore and this is a review of their 1996 album "Entheogen" which was re-issued by A389 Recordings in the year of 2014.
The album starts out with a very heavy and dark sound which leads up to aggressive vocals and after awhile clean playing is brought into the music along with spoken word parts as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
As the album continues the band sticks to a really old school form of east coast style hardcore while also bringing in the heaviness of extreme metal along with a small amount of melody as well as having some darkness to their music along with a small amount of spoken word parts, clean playing, acoustic guitars and at times they also bring in distorted effects and leads.
With this album Bloodlet took the east coast style of hardcore and added in the heaviness of metal along with some darkness and while this was not very original they where actually one of the better metalcore bands of their time.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy, dark and professional time for the era it was released and you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording along with some of the song s being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Bloodlet are a very decent sounding metalcore band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Brainchild" "One And Only" "The Triumph" and "95". 7/5 out of 10.
