Biche are a band from France that plays a mixture of doom metal, sludge and hardcore and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2013 album.
The album starts out with a dark and melodic sound before going into a heavier direction which leads up to some sludge style vocals which also have a melodic tone to them and after awhile leads are brought into the music which also leads up to some screams.
As the album continues the band bring in more punk and hardcore elements while keeping around the doom and sludge sound as well as bringing in a small amount of clean playing on a couple of the songs as well as always remaining heavy and at time s the record also has a stoner rock feeling to it.
Biche bring in a great amount of heaviness and melody to their music as well as having a dark atmosphere to them and they also seem to be a bit more hardcore influenced than most sludge or doom metal bands.
Song lyrics are written in a mixture of French and English and cover dark theme,s while the production has a very dark, raw and heavy sound along with the bass guitars being mixed down low in the mix as well as some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Biche are a very great sounding mixture of sludge, doom metal and hardcore and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "SUSU!" "6 Millions" and "Un Bon Dimanche". 8 out of 10.
