Running Death are a band from Germany that plays a very old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 ep "The Call of Extinction".
The ep starts out with dark acoustic guitars along with solos before heading into a heavy, melodic and old school thrash sound along with all of the musical instruments kicking ass before adding in melodic and aggressive vocals.
As the ep continues the band sticks to a mid 80's melodic old school thrash metal sound while the vocals do have a slight modern feeling to them when they get more aggressive and at times they also bring in clean sections which also bring a technical feeling to the record.
With this ep Running Death bring back to the more melodic direction of old school thrash metal while also having a great amount of heaviness and aggression and this sounds like it could of easily been released by Noise Records during the year of 1988.
Song lyrics cover dark and violent themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy, old school and professional sound for being a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Running Death are a very great sounding heavy and melodic old school thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Killing For Gods" and "Hunting For heads". 8 out of 10.
