Ingrimm are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of medieval rock and folk metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Henkt Ihn!" which was released by TrollZorn Records.
The album starts out with a medieval folk sound along with melodic leads mixture in a few seconds alter before going into a heavier direction and adding in gruff thrash style vocals which also use clean singing at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as a small amount of death metal influences.
When the album goes into other songs the music gets even heavier and the music is more closer to extreme melodic metal than folk while the later is still a huge part of the recording and the solos bring in traditional metal influences while the flutes have a very atmospheric and medieval feeling to them.
With this album Ingrimm shows a different approach to folk metal and medieval rock with their music being more based on traditional, melodic and extreme forms of metal while still having the folk elements and this band is a lot more metal orientated than most folk metal bands.
Song lyrics are written in German and cover folklore themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Ingrimm are a very great sounding mixture of folk metal and medieval rock and if you are a fan of those musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hetzer" "Haengt Ihn" "Fuhl Dick Frei" and "Engel". 8 out of 10.
