Conan are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of stoner, doom metal and drone and this is a review of their 2014 album "Blood Eagle" which was released by Napalm Records.
The album starts out with dark drone/doom metal sound before going into a heavier direction and after a few minutes melodic vocals are added into the music as well as bringing in a stoner vibe to the recording.
When we get more into the album you can hear psychedelic sounds being mixed in with the heavier parts and the vocals are only used for brief moments during the songs with the music concentrating more on the heavy instruments and at time s they also bring in mid paced sections in certain parts of the record.
With this album Conan bring out the heaviest in stoner metal songs with the slow and doomy guitars being the main focus of the music and they also have a great amount of darkness being evoked with their music.
Song lyrics cover Norse Mythology, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording as well as most of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Conan are a very great sounding mixture of stoner, doom metal and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Total Conquest" and "Altar Of Grief". 8/5 out of 10.
