Sabbat/History Of A Time To Come/Noise Records/1987 Vinyl Review

Sabbat  are  a  band  from  The United  Kingdom  that  plays  a  mixture  of  first  wave  black  metal  and  thrash  with  pagan  lyrics  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1987  album  "History  Of  A  Time  To  Come"  which  was  released  by  Noise  Records.

Drums range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  not  much  in  the  way  of  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  are  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  first  wave  black  metal  with  thrash,  while  the  lead  guitars  are  very  old  school  sounding  thrash  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads  that  have  some  traditional  metal influences  to  them,  as  for  the  classical  guitars  which  are  only  used  briefly  they  use  finger  picking  and  full  chords  to  enhance  the  darkness  that  is  coming  out of  the  music.

Vocals  range  from  first  wave  black  metal  screams,  thrash  style  singing  and  pre  death  metal  growls  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  samples,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Paganism,  Witchcraft,  Satanism  and  Anti  Christian  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful  and  heavy  sound  for  the  time  it  was  released  with  some  of  the  songs  being  long  and  epic  in  length.

In  my  opinion  this  was  a  very  great  sounding  recording  from  Sabbat  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this band,  you  probably  already  own  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Hosanna  In  Excelsis"  "For  Those  That  Died"  and  "The  Church  Bizarre".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
