Rigor Mortis where a band that played thrash bordering on early death metal and this is a review of their self titled 1988 album which was released by Capital Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with only a small amount of blast beats, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast thrash metal riffs that had a heavy early death metal influence to them as well as a good amount of dark sounding melodies along with a brief use of soft and clean playing, while the lead guitars are very dark and evil sounding thrash metal guitar solos and leads that utilize some melody at times.
Vocals are mostly pre death metal thrash style vocals that have a small amount of a melodic tone to them as well as some gang back up vocals along with a brief use of horror film samples, while the lyrics cover horror film themes with some darkness and occultism, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for the time it was released and you can h ear all of the musical instruments that are present on can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Rigor Mortis where a very great sounding pre death metal area thrash band and if you are looking to discover the roots of the music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Demons" "Condemned To Hell" "Vampire" and "Slow Death". RECOMMENDED BUY.
