Mortalicum are a band from Sweden t hat h as had their recent album reviewed in this zine with the musical style on this recording being a mixture of traditional doom and classic metal and this is a review of their 2010 album "Progress of Doom" which was released by Metal On Metal Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with no fast playing or blast beats being present on this recording, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars a re all slow to mid paced riffs that combine traditional doom with classic metal with a good amount of melody being thrown into the riffing as well as a brief use of soft and clean playing being utilized on the last song, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding classic metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are all clean singing traditional metal vocals, while the lyrics cover dark themes, as for t he production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and old school sound to it with the music sounding like it could of easily came out in the mid 70's or early 80's as well as some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Mortilicum and if you are a fan of traditional doom or classic metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Into The Night" "A Darker Power" "Darkness All Around" and "Damnation Of The Soul". RECOMMENDED BUY.
