Carnivore/Retaliation/Roadracer Records/1987 Cassette Review

Carnivore  where  a  band  from  New  York  that  played  a  crossover  style  mixing  metal  with  hardcore  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1987  album  "Retaliation"  which  was  released  by  Roadracer  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  heavy  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  hardcore  and  thrash  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own  as  well  as  some  melody  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  at  times,  while  the  lead  guitars  when  they  are  utilized  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  punk/thrash guitar  solos  and  leads.

Vocals  are  all  hardcore  style  shouts,  while  the  lyrics  cover  political,  anti  religion,  and  hateful  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  strong,  powerful,  heavy  and  professional  sound  for  the  time  it  came  out  where  you  can  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on t his  recording.

In  my  opinion  Carnivore  where  a  very  great  sounding  crossover  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  band,  you  probably  already  own  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Angry  Neurotic  Catholics"  "Race  War"  "Jesus  Hitler"  and  "Sex  And  Violence".  RECOMMENDED BUY.
