Hair Of The Dog are a trio from Scotland that plays a mixture of psychedelic, retro and stoner rock and this is a review of their 2017 album "This World Turns" which was released as a joint effort between Kozmik Artifactz and Bilocation Records.
A very hard and heavy 70's influenced rock sound starts off the album while mixing it in with some modern stoner elements as well as the riffs also using a great amount of melody and the vocals give the songs more of a proto metal feeling along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the riffs also add in a touch of doom metal at times and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in more of a retro rock fashion and as the album progresses elements of blues rock can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and a couple of tracks also adds in a small amount of clean playing, psychedelic synths and acoustic guitars along with all of the tracks sticking to either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Hair Of The Dog plays a musical style that takes psychedelic and 70's metal and mixes it in with a modern stoner rock sound to create something different, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Hair Of The Dog are a very great sounding mixture of psychedelic, retro and stoner rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Keep Watching Over The Night" and "4AM". 8 out of 10.
