Big | Brave are a band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada that has been featured before in this zine and plays an experimental form of metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Ardor" which will be released in September by Southern Lord Records.
Heavy yet melodic riffing starts off the album along with some drones along with some drums and bass guitars being added onto the recording a few seconds later which also leads to some clean vocals making their presence known and all of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Elements of post metal and 80's era noise rock and industrial metal can be heard in the bands musical style while the music also gets very experimental and avant garde at times along with a brief use of male vocals and there is also a brief use of stringed instruments, when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very distorted fashion and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical style.
Big | Brave creates another recording that remains true to the experimental metal sound that was established on their previous release, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Big | Brave and if you are a fan of experimental metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Borer". 8 out of 10.
