The Hyle are a band from Denmark that plays a very traditional form of doom rock/metal and this is a review of their 2014 demo which was released on cassette by Caligari Records.
Clean playing starts off the demo and a few seconds later the music goes into more of a heavy and traditional doom metal sound along with some melodic guitar solos and leads and when vocals are brought into the music they are all clean singing and at times spoken word parts can be heard in certain sections of the recording along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and all of the songs stick to a slow, heavy and melodic doom metal direction as well as sounding like they could of easily been recorded and released during either the 70's and 80's and they also add in a touch of 70's rock into their musical sound at times along with a touch of psychedelia while the main focus remains more on a heavy and old school sound.
The Hyle plays a very retro style of doom rock/metal that goes back to the origins of the genre and ignores all the modern styles this genre has created over the years and brings in a very dark, evil and evil sound, the production sounds very dark, old school and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion The Hyle are a very great sounding doom rock/metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lucifero" and "Children Of the Divine". 8 out of 10.
