Crossed Fire are a band from Portugal that plays a mixture of stoner and sludge metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Life's A Gamble" which was released by Hellxis Records.
A very dark and melodic stoner metal sound starts off the album along with some southern style metal guitar solos and leads coming in a few seconds later and also remain a huge part of the songs and the heavier side of the music brings in the sludge and doom metal elements and on the second track the music starts to speed up a bit and some of the later tracks also bring in a small amount of spoken word parts at times.
When vocals are added into the music they bring a groove metal feeling to the recording and the music sticks mostly to a slow or mid paced musical direction while it also has its fast moments at times and on some of the tracks the vocals get more melodic while also remaining aggressive at the same time and at times you can hear elements of thrash and hardcore in the bands musical style. and the whole album always remains heavy from beginning to end and there is never a weak or soft moment to be found in any of the tracks
Crossed Fire plays a heavy musical style that is heavily rooted in the 90's and takes the groove, stoner, and sludge genres from that era to create the musical sound that is present on this recording as well as adding in a touch of thrash and hardcore, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover real life them.
In my opinion Crossed Fire are a very great sounding mixture of stoner, sludge, and groove metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hope Fades Away" "End Of Life" "Drinking Club" and "Get the Medicine pt. II". 8 out of 10.
