Michael Jessen is a solo artist from Denmark that plays a mixture of hard rock and heavy metal and this is a review of his 2014 album "Memories" which was released by massacre Records.
A very powerful sounding bass guitar sound starts off the album along with some clean guitars and melodic vocals which leads up to more of a hard and heavy musical direction that combines the more commercialized styles of hard rock and heavy metal together while also having a heavy 80's AOR influence being incorporated into the songs.
Solos and leads when they are utilized which is also quite a bit throughout the recording are very melodic sounding and they display a great amount of talent and skill and the songs also bring in a good mixture of both clean and heavy parts along with a few power ballads and you can also hear some elements of more modern day hard rock being added into the songs at times which also gives the album a more up to date feeling and one of the later tracks also brings in a small amount of keyboards.
Michael Jessen takes a very mainstream and commercialized style of 80's hard rock/heavy metal and makes it sound more up to date by adding in some modern elements, the production sounds very professional while the song lyrics cover everyday themes.
In my opinion Michael Jessen is a very great sounding mixture of hard rock and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo artist. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Broken Heart" "Blackwater" "Prisoner" and "Freefall". 8 out of 10.
