Nocturna are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of symphonic, progressive and power metal and this is a review of their self released ep "Lucidity" which will be released in 2015.
A very dark and distorted sounding intro starts off the ep along with some synths a few seconds later which after awhile go more for a progressive and symphonic direction and after the intro they keep the symphonic and prog elements and mix them in with a heavier musical direction along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
. When vocals are added into the music they are all clean singing power metal vocals and the solos and leads also bring in a great amount of melody, talent and skill and you can also hear some blast beats being utilized in the faster sections of the songs and the tracks also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the songs take a huge influence from both the American and European power metal bands and mix them in with a more modern prog and symphonic metal sound and the last track is a 10 minute long song which also bring in aggressive vocals that are very close to death metal towards the end.
.
Nocturna takes a style of power metal that has its roots in the 80's and mixes it with a more modern and heavy sound as well as adding a great amount of symphonic and progressive elements to create some music that is very heavy, melodic and diverse sounding, the production sound s very professional for being a self release d recording while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Nocturna are a very great sounding mixture of symphonic, progressive and power metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lucidity" and "Gaining Solace". 8 out of 10.
