Mad Parish are a band from Canada that plays a mixture of heavy and speed metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Procession".
Melodic guitar leads start off the album along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and after awhile the music starts going for more of a traditional metal sound along with some clean singing vocals and the songs have a vintage 80's feeling to them and sound like they sound of been recorded and released during that time frame.
The solos and leads the band uses remains true to the traditional style of metal that they are playing on the songs and on the later tracks the music adds in a touch of early speed metal in the faster sections of the tracks and at times you can also hear some spoken word parts being added into certain sections of the recording.
As the album progresses classical guitars can be heard at times along with a few tracks that are long and epic in length an on some of the songs the vocals bring in a few high pitched power metal screams and on a couple of tracks the music adds in a slight thrash feeling to their traditional style of heavy metal.
Mad Parish plays a style of traditional metal that is very heavily rooted in the early 80's and also brings in a small amount of power and speed metal to give their melodic style more of a heavy edge, the production sounds very old school yet professional at the same time while the lyrics cover fantasy themes.
In my opinion Mad Parish are a very great sounding traditional heavy metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Darkness Befalls This Cursed Land" "A Stitch In Crime" "To Build A Fire" and "Dawn of The Unforgiven". 8 out of 10.
