Maverick are a band from Northern Ireland that plays a mixture of hard rock and pop metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Quid Pro Quo" which was released by massacre Records.
Air raid sirens sounds start off the album along with some radio noises and drum beats and after the intro the music goes for more of a hard and heavy musical direction that is very melodic as well as being heavy rooted in the 80's and the vocals continue in the same tradition when they are added onto the recording.
When solos and leads are added into the music they are in a more hard rock style of metal direction and the album starts bringing in more hair metal anthems as the album progresses along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and some of the tracks also bring in a 70's classic rock/metal sound at times.
Maverick goes back to t he 80's and brings back the pop metal sound of that era while also adding in a touch of 70's rock to create and album that is very retro, old school, hard and heavy from beginning to end, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Maverick are a very great sounding mixture of hard rock and pop metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Snakeskin Sinner" "In Our Blood" "Last Addiction" and "Took the Night". 8 out of 10.
