Sata Kaskelottia are a band from Finland tha t plays a mixture of stoner, sludge and progressive metal and this is a review of their self titled album which will be released in 2015 by Inverse Music.
A very hard and heavy sound starts off the album along with some aggressive vocals which also add in elements of hardcore and groove metal and you can also hear a decent amount of melody which are in more of a stoner/desert rock direction in the bands musical style and the slower riffs bring in a good dose of doom and sludge metal influences
You can hear a lot of 90's influences in the bands musical style but done in a more modern fashion and when solos and leads are used in the music they add in more of a stoner metal feeling to the tracks they are utilized on while on other tracks they also bring in elements of melodic progressive metal and as the album progresses clean singing vocals can be heard in certain sections of the recording while some tracks also add in a small amount of acoustic guitars.
Sata kaskelottia takes the stoner and sludge genres and mix them in with progressive metal to create their own musical style, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Sata Kaskelottia are a very great sounding mixture of stoner, sludge and progressive metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Huuto" ""Kynto" "Jumalan aani" and "Merimies". 8 out of 10.
