Seventh are a band from Italy that plays a very experimental form of post metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "The Herald" which was released by Sliptrick Records.
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the album along with some screaming vocals that bring in a touch of hardcore and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and the music is very heavily rooted in the post style of metal and hardcore and atmospheric synths are often utilized.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very distorted yet melodic style and the music also brings in touches of ambient and avant garde music and spoken word samples can also be heard briefly and some songs also bring in a small amount of clean singing and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length, elements of doom metal can be heard in some of the heavier riffing and all of the songs stick either to a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Seventh plays a style of post metal that can be very experimental at times while also adding in a touch of hardcore and doom metal to create something very original, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based upon the utmost importance of being a conscious man in a world of cultural and religious absurdities.
In my opinion Seventh are a very great sounding post metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Apostate" "The Exile" and "The Throne". 8 out of 10.
