Amon Sethis are a band from France that plays a progressive form of metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "The Final Struggle".
A ritualistic Egyptian folk music sound along with spoken word parts open up the album along with an symphonic and epic feeling, after t he intro the album goes into a heavier direction while also keeping around the Egyptian sounds and adding in powerful sounding bass lines along with some melodic vocals which leads to the recording going into a more progressive metal direction.
You can hear a lot of melody in the music along with some influences from Queensyrche, Dream Theater, and Fates Warning while also having a more original and modern sound than the bands mentioned and when solos and leads are added into the recording they display a great amount of skill, talent and melody, when acoustic guitars are brought in they bring in a 70's metal/classic progressive rock sound to the recording.
Spoken words come in and out of the album along with each track having a sound of their own and the band uses six different vocalist on the album with some vocals sounding demonic at times w along with some death metal elements while the main focus is on clean singing, and halfway through the recording the band brings in a ballad before returning back to a heavier direction on the following tracks and they never stay too far away from the Egyptian and symphonic sounds and the last track is a very long and epic song.
Amon Sethis have a very original sound with there music, with the musical direction being closer to 80's progressive metal but making it sound more modern with some symphonic and Egyptian music styles being mixed in and later on you can hear some death and groove metal towards the end along with a very professional sounding production and lyrics that are very well verse and in depth with Egyptian Mythology and paganism.
In my opinion Amon Sethis are a very great sounding progressive metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Shadow the Light" "Pharaoh's Army" "Eyes Of The Sun" and "The Final Struggle". 8/5 out of 10.
