Year Of The Goat are a band from Sweden that plays a mixture of occult rock, traditional metal and doom metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "Angel's Necropolis" which was released by Van Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the keyboards bring a very dark, atmospheric, occult and psychedelic sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful tone with classsic metal/rock riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced riffs that combine occult rock, 70's metal and traditional doom metal together to create a sound of their own with a good amount of dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing as well as some soft and clean playing, while the lead guitars are very melodic and 70's sounding metal/rock guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking to add a more psychedelic mid 60's to early 70's rock sound to the music.
Vocals are all clean singing traditional metal vocals as well as a brief use of aggressive and demonic sounding vocals being utilized on the last song which gives the music a black metal feeling, while the lyrics cover Luciferian and Occult themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Year Of The Goat are a very great sounding occult rock/metal band and if you are a fan of this musical style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Angel's Necropolis" "A Circle Of Serpents" "Voice Of A Dragon" and "I''ll Die For You". RECOMMENDED BUY.
