Scott Kelley And The Road Home are a band from California that plays neo-folk rock mixed with Americana and this is a review of their 2012 album "The Forgiven Ghost In Me" which was released by Neorot Recordings.
Acoustic guitars use full chords and finger picking mixing neo-folk rock with Americana to create a sound of their own with some guitar slides being utilized at times as well as a brief use of guitar distortion which are utilized on the guitar leads, while the vocals are all clean singing folk/americana style which get alot more aggressive sounding at times while mixing in a small amount of folk instruments.
Song lyrics cover dark and depressive themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful and dark sound with the vocals, folk instruments and guitars being the only musical instruments that are present on this recording with a couple of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Scott Kelley And The Road Home are a very great sounding hybrid of neo-folk rock and Americana and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Forgiven Ghost In Me" "The Sun Is Dreaming In The Soul" "We Let The Hell Come" and "We Burn In The Night". RECOMMENDED BUY.
