Ichabod are a band from Boston, Massachusetts that plays a mixture of sludge and doom metal with classic rock influences and this is a review of their 2012 album "Dreamscapes From Deep Space" which was released by Rootsucker Records.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats while there is a brief us of percussion, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording. as for the organs which are only utilized briefly on a couple of songs they bring a psychedelic sound to the music along with some sound effects being utilized at times in addition there aare some flutes being utilized on the last song.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced sludge/doom metal riffs that also mix in rock and psychedelic influences to create a sound of their own and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use full chords to add more of a 70's sound to the music.
Vocals are mostly clean singing stoner/doom metal vocals that get aggressive at times as well b ringing in the sludge elements as some spoken word samples and whispers in addition t here is a brief use of female vocals being utilized on one song, while the lyrics cover mythology and stoner themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Ichabod are a very great sounding hybrid of sludge, doom metal and psychedelic rock and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Huckleberry" "Baba Yaga" "All Your Love" and "108". RECOMMENDED BUY.
