Ufomammut are a band from Italy that plays an occult form of psychedelic sludge/doom metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "Oro: Opus Primum" which was released by Neurot Recordings and this is the first volume of a 2 album series.
Drums are all slow playing with no fast playing or blast beats, w hile the synths, sound effects and visuals bring a very dark occult, psychedelic and drone sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars are all slow riffs that combine drone, psychedelic, sludge and doom metal together to create a sound of their own along with a great amount of heavy riffing and powerful distortion and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all clean singing chanting and sludge style screams with some spoken word parts being utilized at times, while the song themes cover Occultism and Alchemy, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, dark, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Ufomammut are a very great and heavy sounding hybrid of psychedelic, drone, sludge and doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Empereum" and "Magickon". RECOMMENDED BUY.
