Attic are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of traditional doom metal, first wave black metal and traditional metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "The Invocation" which was released by Van Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with not much in the way of blast beats, while the organs when they are utilized bring a very dark and evil sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a v ery dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine traditional doom metal, fist wave black metal and traditional metal together with a good amount of dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding traditional metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and full chords to add more darkness to the music.
Vocals range from mid range to high pitched power metal clean singing with a heavy King Diamond influence, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Dark themes, as for the production it has a very old school approach with the music having an 80's sound but with a more up to date approach.
In my opinion Attic are a very great sounding hybrid of traditional metal, first wave black metal and traditional metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Funeral In The Woods" "Ghost Of The Orphanage" "The Invocation" and "Satan's Bride". RECOMMENDED BUY.
