Arbogast are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays a mixture of sludge, thrash, hardcore and punk and this is a review of their 2012 album "I" which was released by Nefarious Industries.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast playing or blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced riffs that combine sludge, thrash, hardcore and punk together to create a sound of their own and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars which are only used briefly on one song they use finger picking and full chords to add a stoner rock feeling to t he music.
Vocals are all sludge style yells and screams, while the lyrics cover dark and everyday themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound to it while retaining a dark sound.
In my opinion Arbogast are a very great sounding hybrid of sludge, thrash, hardcore and punk and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black With Birds' "Blasfamous" "The Victor, The Fallen" and "Soulsafe". RECOMMENDED BUY.
