Lifeless are a band from New Jeresy that plays a very dark and heavy from of hardcore and this is a review of their 2015 album "Dream" which will be released in March by Fast Break! Records.
Wind and rain sounds start off the album along with some samples from a very old style of music before going into more of an aggressive hardcore direction along with some aggressive vocals that almost have a death metal feeling to them and they also bring in back up gang shouts at times and in some sections of the songs the music also brings in a small amount of dark sounding melodies.
Most of the music sticks to mostly a style or mid paced style of hardcore while also still being very brutal at the same time while there are some fast moments and when solos and leads are utilized they add in influences from both 80's and 90's extreme metal and as the album progresses breakdowns can be heard in certain sections of the recording and on some of the tracks the vocals have somewhat of a melodic tone to them that almost borders on groove metal and the last song also bring s in a brief use of clean playing and is also 7 minutes in length.
Lifeless plays a style of hardcore that is very dark, heavy and also incorporates a touch of extreme metal which makes their music sound more brutal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Lifeless are a very great sounding dark and brutal hardcore band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Truth Of Life And Death" "Sinking" "How Hatred Starts" and "Broken Home". 8 out of 10.
