The Wolf Council are a band from Minnesota that plays a mixture of doom metal and stoner rock and this is a review of their self released 2015 album which will be released in February by Static Tension Recordings.
A very dark and heavy stoner rock sound starts off the album along with a good amount of melody and all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and the vocals they use are all clean singing and they have a 70's proto metal feeling to them at times while mixing it in with a heavy and modern style of doom metal.
At times the music brings in elements of melodic post hardcore and some of the tracks also bring in elements of traditional metal along with some traces of 90's style grunge and a couple of the tracks also brings in a brief use of guitar leads which are also overpowered by the heavy guitar riffing and there is never a soft or weak moment to be heard anywhere on this recording.
The Wolf Council plays a style of stoner rock that is very melodic and retro sounding while also bringing in the heaviness of doom metal to create a sound of their own, the production sound s very professional while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion The Wolf Council are a very great sounding mixture of stoner rock and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Send Help For the Rest" "All That Was Yours" "Just One Push" and "No Reason". 8 out of 10.
