The Matterhorn Project are a band from Denver, Colorado that plays an experimental and progressive form of heavy metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 album "Find A Way".
A dark sounding drone starts off the album along with some keyboards before adding in more of a harder sound while also being very experimental and melodic at the same time which leads up to more of a heavy prog metal direction and clean singing vocals which are also only used briefly on a couple of tracks and you can also hear some classical guitars being mixed in with the heavier sounds at times.
When solos and leads are utilized they bring a melodic post rock/metal feeling to t he recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and they also b ring in a few tracks that are long and epic in length and at times the music also brings in the heaviness of post hardcore and sludge metal and they also bring in a decent amount of instrumental tracks.
The Matterhorn Project plays mostly an instrumental style of progressive metal that is also very experimental and avant garde while also bringing in the heaviness of post hardcore and sludge to create a sound of their own and the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording.
In my opinion the Matterhorn Project are a very great sounding instrumental, experimental and progressive metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Trails" and "The End Is Over". 8 out of 10.
