Kooba Tercu are a band from Greece that plays a mixture of sludge, alternative metal, punk, experimental and psychedelic rock and this is a review of their self titled 2015 album which was released as a joint effort between Spinalonga Records and Body Blows Records.
Tribal sounding beats start off the album along with some alternative rock elements being added in a few seconds later as well as a very powerful sounding bass guitars which also leads up to some distorted guitar rhythms that also have a noise rock feeling and after awhile clean singing vocals are added onto the recording.
A good portion off the tracks bring in elements of experimental rock along with some electronic music elements and after awhile a good amount of 90's alternative metal/rock influences are added into a good portion of the songs along with some high pitched sludge screams while the cleaner sections also bring in an ambient feeling at times.
As the album progresses guitar leads and punk rock elements can be heard in the music quite a bit along with a great amount of melody being added into both the riffing and solos as well as a touch of early 90's post hardcore/indie rock and all of the songs are very diverse and stick to mostly a slow or mid paced direction.
Kooba Tercu takes element s of sludge, punk, experimental, alternative, metal, and psychedelic rock to create an album that sounds very original and hard to categorize, the production sounds very old school with a 90's feeling while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion Kooba Tercu are a very great sounding mixture of sludge, alternative metal, punk, experimental and psychedelic rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Elephant" "Squirting Squad" "Unaboom" and "Sonique". 8 out of 10.
