Black Pussy are a band from Portland Oregon that plays a mixture of stoner pop, psychedelic rock, metal and weedgazer and this is a review of their 2015 album "Magic Mustache" which will be released in February by Made in China Records.
Psychedelic sounds start off the album and after a minute that mixture goes for more of a 70's doom metal sound along with some stoner rock style vocals which they also mix in with the psych elements and when solos and leads are added into the music they bring in more of a 70's hard rock feeling to the recording.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them along with a few tracks that are long and epic in length and some of the songs also bring in a small amount of organs while some of the guitar riffing has a shoegaze feeling at times which gives the retro nature of the recording more of a modern day feeling and as the album progresses elements of pop and blues can be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Black Pussy plays a style of stoner rock that has the heaviness of doom metal and also mixes in elements of shoegaze, psychedelia and pop music to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover drugged out themes.
In my opinion Black Pussy are a very great sounding mixture of stoner pop, psychedelic rock, metal and weedgazer and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Into Your Cosmic" "For The Sake Of Argument" "Butterfly" and "Magic Mustache". 8 out of 10.
