Tormentress are an all female band from Singapore that plays a very old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Operation Torment" which will be released in September by Inferno Records.
A very dark, melodic and heavy sound starts off the album and after the intro the music goes into a more old school thrash metal direction along with some aggressive vocals which almost have a death metal feeling to them at times and the bands musical style is very heavily rooted in the 1980's tradition
On the 3rd track solos and leads are added into the music and they add a more melodic feeling to the bands aggressive thrash metal sound along with a small amount of blast beats being utilized at times and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and the album remains in a heavy and hard direction from beginning to end of the recording as well as bringing in the energy of punk rock at times and they close the album with a cover of Kreator's "Tormentor"..
Tormentress plays a very aggressive old school style of thrash metal and while they do not bring much originality to this genre they can still play this style as well and aggressive as any other band that plays this musical style, the production sounds very heavy and old school while the lyrics cover thrashing, political, dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Tormentress are a very great sounding old school thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Denied" "The Great Oppression" "Dead At 27" and "Tormentor". 8 out of 10.
