Last Minute To Jaffna are a band from Italy that plays a very heavy and psychedelic from of post/sludge metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Volume III" which was released by Bare Teeth Records.
Acoustic and clean guitars and drones start off the album and a few seconds later melodic vocals find their way onto the recording and after a few minutes psychedelic elements start to kick in and all of the songs are very long and epic in length and the band focuses less on metal with this recording and takes the music mostly into a heavy psychedelic direction.
You can hear a lot of 60's and 70's rock influences in the bands musical sound while the album still has a very modern sound to it with elements of post rock being added into the bands musical sound along with some distorted parts and the music sticks to a very slow direction from beginning to the end of the recording while also being very original sounding all at the same time and at times they music has a folk rock feeling to it at times and towards the end of the last track the vocals start getting more aggressive in sound.
With this recording Last Minute To Jaffna stays away from t heir early sludge metal material and creates an album that is more in a heavy and psychedelic direction but with more modern and post rock elements, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Last Minute To Jaffna are a very great sounding heavy psychedelic band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Chapter V" and "Chapter VI". 8 out of 10.
