Malakyte are a band from Australia that plays an old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 album "Human Resonance".
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the album with some finger picking and full chords and after the intro the music goes into a very fast and heavy old school thrash metal direction along with some aggressive screaming vocals and after a couple of minutes melodic solos and leads are added into the music along with some powerful sounding bass guitars.
After awhile the band starts bringing in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the leads on the later songs go back to the 1982-4 era of metal at times and as the album progresses some of the guitar riffing starts adding more darkness and melody to their aggressive approach of thrash metal.
All of the songs sound like they could of been recorded in the 80's while the production makes the music sound more modern and brutal and halfway through the album another acoustic instrumental is added onto the recording while the remaining tracks are in a heavier direction along with the vocals bringing in a small amount of melodic screams as well as bringing in an instrumental before closing the album with a vocal track as well as bringing in a small amount of death metal growls.
Malakyte bring a lot of talent and skill along with a great amount of raw aggression to the old school style of thrash metal while also having a good sense of melody, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and violent themes.
In my opinion Malakyte are a very great sounding aggressive old school thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Embodiment" "Warhawk" "Fall To Khaos" and "Monolith". 8 out of 10.
