This is a review of another recording from Mistress which shows the band continuing their mixture of heavy and speed metal with the album being self released in 2013 and called "Heavy Mental".
A very hard and melodic sound starts off the album before going for a more traditional metal direction along with some vocals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and after awhile solos and leads are added into the music and there is also a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts present throughout the recording.
Just like with the previous recording the music is heavily rooted in the early 80's hard rock/metal style and on the 3rd track the music goes into a more clean 70's rock direction while the following track sees the band returning back to a heavier direction along with some elements of speed and thrash metal while the more traditional and hard rock style of metal still remains the biggest part of their musical sound as well as bringing back the clean parts and ballads at times and one of the tracks shows the band bringing in a brief use of blast beats.
Mistress remain true to their mixture of speed and heavy metal on this recording having more a of a heavier sound this time around while also retaining a great amount of melody, the production sounds very old school yet professional all at the same time while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Mistress and if you are a fan of heavy and speed metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hell Hole" "Psycho Bat" "Unloved" and "Drunk And Mad". 8 out of 10.
