Hard Tension are a band from Portugal that plays a mixture of neo-classical and power metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "Fear And Guilt".
Prog style synths start off the ep along with some acoustic guitars and melodic leads and after the intro the music goes into a more heavy and old school 80's style of power metal along with some melodic clean singing vocals and whispers and back up shouts are also added into t he music at times along with a mixture of both clean and heavy parts.
The guitar solos and leads on the album are very melodic and 80's sounding power/heavy metal guitar solos and leads and you can also hear spoken word parts in certain sections of the recording as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and as the ep progresses you can hear the neo-classical elements being mixed in with the melodic guitar leads.
Hard Tension bring s out a very old school mixture of neo-classical and power metal with their musical style showing that the 80's style can still be utilized in the right direction even during the modern times, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording, while the lyrics cover dark and real life situations.
In my opinion Hard Tension are a very great sounding mixture of neo-classical and power metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Harder Faster" and "Lords Of Salem". 8 out of 10.
