Drcarlsonalbion is a solo artist from Seattle, Washington best known for his work with 'Earth' and with his solo music he plays a mixture of doom metal, drone, country, jazz and folk and this is a review of his self released album "Gold" which will be released on June 17, 2014.
Clean and distorted playing starts off the album and after a few minutes slide guitars find their way into the music and they bring a country blues rock felling to the recording and after awhile drones are added into certain sections of the recording and the music is all instrumental with no vocals being present.
Most of the songs are very short in length and also can be in an experimental direction at times as well as having a mixture of both clean and heavy parts as well as both electric and acoustic guitars being utilized throughout the tracks and they are the main instrument on the album with only a small amount of other instruments being utilized for a few seconds.
Drcarlsonalbion adds a more country folk feeling to his drone sound on this album as well as amking all of the music instrumental along with with a production that is very dark and raw yet professional at the same time.
In my opinion Drcarlsonalbion is a very great sounding mixture of drone, country and folk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solos artist. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE " Gold II" Gold X" "GOld XX" and "Gold XXIV". 8 out of 10.
