We Hunt Buffalo are a band from Vancouver B.C, Canada that plays stoner rock with elements of grunge and alternative metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 ep "Blood From A Stone".
The ep starts off with fuzzy distortion and heavy stoner rock riffs which also utilize elements of doom metal as well as some melodic hard rock vocals which can also get aggressive at times and the solos are heavily influenced by 70's rock.
As the ep progresses the music brings back retro sounds of both the 90's and 70's as well as adding in alternative and grunge influences into their approach to metal/hard rock and there are also a lot of catchy melodies being brought into the music along with a small amount of psychedelic sounding synths.
With this ep We Hunt Buffalo show a great amount of talent and diversity and all 4 of the songs that are present on this ep sound very different from each other and the band also bring in newer elements to stoner rock.
Song lyrics cover dark and metaphysical themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound for being a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this ep.
In my opinion We Hunt Buffalo are a very great sounding stoner rock band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Blood From A Stone" and "Telepathic Eyes". 8/5 out of 10.
