Animator are a band from Ireland that plays a very old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Blacklisted" which was released by EBM Records.
The album starts out with distorted AM Radio sounds along with dark clean playing as well as a talk radio show that talks about politics which leads up to melodic solos and drums and then the music starts going into a heavier direction while also remaining melodic at the same time and vocals start becoming a part of the music along with back up shouts.
As the album progresses the music starts going for more of an old school thrash metal direction while the vocals have a more melodic yet aggressive tone to them and you can hear a lot of Bay Area influences in the music and you can hear a great amount of melody in the guitar riffing.
On this album Animator combine the heaviness of Bay Area thrash and the melody of German speed metal to create a true old school album that has a sound that would of easily fit in the 80's and there are no modern elements just pure old school 80's metal.
Song lyrics cover political and everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and old school sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Animator are a very great sounding melodic, old school thrash metal b and and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "State Of Emergency" "In God We Trust" "Manipulator" and "When Duty Calls". 8 out of 10.
