Gorefield are a band from Australia that plays an old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 album "As Dawn Bleeds The Sky".
The album starts out with clean playing and a few seconds alter drums start to kick in along with bass before going into a heavy thrash direction along with aggressive yet melodic vocals along with gang shouts and when solos are added in they utilize a great amount of skill and melody.
As the album continues it sticks to an old school thrash metal direction while also having a great sense of melody and traditional heavy metal influences and all of the instruments sound very heavy and they also bring back the cleaner parts at time s which also enhance the old school metal elements of the recording and the last song is a power ballad which shows how melodic the singer can be at times.
On this album while Gorefield do not bring in anything new they do seem to have a good knowledge of old school thrash metal and they bring in the melodies of traditional metal to create a true kick ass old school thrash metal record.
Song lyrics cover everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and old school sound for being a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Gorefield are a very great sounding old school heavy/thrash metal band and if you of this musical genre, you should check out t his album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Love Thy Enemy" "Apathy" and "As Dawn Bleeds the Sky". 8 out of 10.
