Aggression Interview

1.Can you give us an update on what has been going on with the band since the release of the latest album?

We just finished recording a new album entitled "Fragmented Spirit Devils" - it should be released shortly and represents the band current state of mind...

2.Last summer you had released a new album, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording and also how does it differ from the stuff you have released in the past?

its a transition between the old and the new... from "Defenders of the Old" to "Cut Your Sins Off" its a passing of the torch. Main difference is that we are all tuned, in sync and able to play our musical instruments without intoxication of our souls..

3.The band has broken up on a couple of times for long period's, what was the cause of the split and also the decision to reform?

Jail sentences, drugs and death. The public demand, the fans demanded Aggression. So that's why we are back after all these years. To bring back that "vibe" of the old...

4.The band was more on the extreme side of thrash metal being a lot more heavier than the more well known bands, do you feel that you have played a part of taking back back then into more of an extreme and heavier direction?

I would say definitely - I mean - its always been about being the fastest possible and the most dangerous out there. We've been by-passed on both counts many times over however we still bring that swagger...

5.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the newer music?

Satanism (a lot), horror shows, creepy habit, human body torture, society dysfunction, global warning, comic book characters, you know, regular day to day stuff...

6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Aggression'?

It was our old manager/guru Johnny Hart's idea. I never liked it until about a year ago when i saw it with Cactus Pete's original logo design from The Full Treatment and Brian's retouching it. I always wanted to be called Antichrist but it was deemed not commercially viable.

7.What are some of the best shows that the band ha splayed over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?

I would like to think we have one of the best stage presence out there and we want people to lose it and hurt each other. It's kinda our purpose... Best shows? Armstrong Metal Fest, Montreal Metal Massacre and Celtic Frost Voivod in Quebec City. Best ever is Aggression headlining the Rising Sun

8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

USA West coast in June and Europe in November

9.The new album was released on Galy Records, can you tell us a little bit more about this label?
/
Great label form Montreal - always been supportive of Aggression since day 1 - Eric Galy is fair and honest

10.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your reunion by fans of thrash metal?

Absolutely amazing - the buzz is out there about us and it keeps growing

11.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

Tyrants Blood is doing well - about to record and has some shows booked. Same for Expain. cradle To Grave is on hiatus so Martin, Dave and I focus on Aggression while Brian and Ryan multi-task. LOL

12.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

A solid mixture of death and thrash - death and thrash is the secret - the holy grail of metal. not thrash and death its gotta be death...and thrash...

13.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Morbid Angel, Entombed and Brutal Truth... Venom... Currently? Abbath, new Megadeth, new Maiden, Cattle Decapitation new Ace Frehley...

14.What are some of your non musical interests?

Hockey, wrestling, coffee, beer, Subway and cigarettes...
