Hammer King are a band from France that plays a very traditional form of power metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Kingdom Of the Hammer King" which will be released in May by Cruz Del Sur Music.
A very melodic sounding guitar lead starts off the album and they are a huge part of all of the songs and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when guitar riffs are added into the music they are heavy but bring in a very old school metal/rock to the music.
When vocals are added into the music they are clean singing power/heavy metal vocals along with a good amount of back up choirs being used at times and clean playing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and th e songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
While the music sounds very heavily rooted in the 80's the production gives the songs more of a modern day feeling and you can hear a good amount of NWOBHM influences in the bands musical style and you can heat a decent amount of the modern day heaviness in some of the tracks and one of the songs also brings in a few seconds of more aggressive vocals and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Hammer King plays a style of power metal that focuses more on the heavier side of the genre while also still being very melodic and displaying a great amount of talent and skill, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover fantasy and heavy metal themes.
In my opinion Hammer King are a very great sounding power metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Am The King" "Blood Angels" "Figure in The Black" and "Glory To The Hammer King". 8 out of 10.
