Adrian Weiss is a solo artist from Germany that plays an instrumental mixture of melodic progressive rock and metal and this is a review of his self released 2014 album "Easy Game".
Heavy guitars and funk style bass start off the album along with some melodies and 80's metal influences and after awhile solos and leads are added into the music and they bring in the shred instrumental style from almost 30 years ago while also having a more up to date approach to this musical style.
On some of the later tracks clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the music also starts adding in more elements of progressive rock to both the riffing and solos and as the album progresses you can hear elements of surf, blues, neo-classical and world music being mixed in with the instrumental and progressive rock/metal sound this album has and there is also a lot of quest musicians scattered throughout the recording that are very well known musicians from both the extreme and progressive metal scenes.
Adrian Weiss takes an 80's instrumental style of shed guitar and metal and mixes it with progressive rock, fusion and a variety of many different musical genres to create some very original sounding music and the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording.
In my opinion Adrian Weiss is a very great sounding instrumental mixture of melodic progressive rock and metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo artist. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Awkward Silence" "Immediate Measures" "The Offering" and "Night Owl". 8 out of 10.
