Machinergy are a band from Portugal that plays a very old school form of thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Sounds Evolution".
Dark electronic sounds start off the album before going into more of a heavy and melodic musical direction which leads up to a very fast old school thrash metal direction along with some aggressive vocals that have a death metal tinge to them and the band also brings in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
The music on this recording goes back to the most extreme style of thrash that was around in the mid 80's and you can hear a lot of the elements early death metal took from thrash in this bands musical style but the music is more modern and halfway through the album the electronic sound s make their return at times along with some spoken word samples as well as a small amount of melodic female vocals while the main focus remains on a very heavy and aggressive thrash metal sound that avoids any use of solos or leads and a couple of the later track brings in a brief use of ethnic Middle Eastern music sounds.
Machinery plays a very aggressive and brutal form of old school thrash metal that shows how heavy this genre can get without having to turn death metal and there is also a good amount of melody being displayed on some of these tracks, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover violent and hateful themes.
In my opinion Machinergy are a very great sounding brutal old school thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sounds Evolution" "Venomith" "Cado Falso" and "Hammer". 8 out of 10.
