Burn The Army are a band from Indiana that plays post metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "The Tide to Sink The Summit" which will be released in October.
Clean playing and drones start off the ep giving the recording a progressive and experimental feeling along with some elements of post rock before getting more heavy and melodic as well as adding in some metal influences and when vocals are added into the music they are both rough and melodic all at the same time.
You can hear a great amount of hardcore elements in the heavier side of the vocals and guitar riffing and the band also brings in a good mixture of both clean and heavy parts along with a mixture of slow and mid paced parts that bring in traces of progressive metal as well as adding in solos and leads that are very melodic and half of the tracks are very long and epic in length and you can also hear a small amount of blast beats in certain sections of the recording and they also bring in a short instrumental before closing the ep with a vocal tracks.
Burn the Army plays a very modern style of post metal that also has some progressive elements and the aggression of hardcore and you can tell they are very talented and diverse as musicians, the production sound s very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover nature themes.
In my opinion Burn The Army are a very great sounding post metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "sea' and "End". 8 out of 10.
