Shadow Host are a band from Russia that plays a mixture of speed, thrash and power metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Apocalyptic Symphony" which was released by Metalism Records.
The album starts out with a very heavy, melodic and old school sound along with a mixture of riffs and leads before going into a more thrash direction as well as adding in clean singing vocals and back up gang shouts.
When the album goes into other song s the music starts going for a more speed/thrash metal sound while having the melody and vocals of power metal as well as bringing in a brief use of spoken word samples on one track and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and on one of the songs they bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars which also leads to a power ballad before making a return to a heavier direction on the last song.
With this album Shadow Host combine the heaviest elements of thrash, power and speed metal to create an album that is very heavy and old school sounding while also having a more modern day sounding production.
Song lyrics cover political and everyday themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording as well as one of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Shadow host are a very great sounding mixture of thrash, speed and power metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lunacy Divine" "Empty Eyes" "Divide And Rule" and "Seeds Of Sorrow". 8/5 out of 10.
