1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
BENY: We have just returned from the Frankfurt music messe. We had a lot of fun.
ROK: Otherwise we are working on the promotion of the new album and looking for gigs.
2.Recently you have put out a new album, can you tell us a little bit about the musical direction of the new recording and also how does it differ from your past releases?
ROK: It is much more mature than our previous releases. The musical arrangements are more sophisticated and the production is just awesome. We were recording the album all-together for the first time and we figured it out that it is the best formula to do a great album.
BENY: I produced and mixed the album and than we decided for Mika Jussila from Finnvox Studios to do the mastering. The sound combines great production and it really supports the structures of the songs.
3.The music is heavily rooted in the early 80's traditional metal sound, what was the decision behind playing this style and what are your thoughts on metal genres that popped up after the 80's?
ROK: We are influenced by different styles from different eras. It is not just 80`s stuff that influences us.
BENY: Yeah I would say that we like to combine different musical elements. We are influenced by the present climate and environment that surrounds us but yeah we also love some good old school heavy metal.
4.Can you tell us a little bit more about the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
ROK: Some of the lyrics are based on philosophical topics and cultural themes. But most of the lyrics on this album are based on personal issues and different positive and negative expiriences in society.
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Metalsteel'?
BENY: It is a strong name that`s why we like it but it has no deeper meaning. We decided to use that name when we were kids but didn`t want to change it on purpose because people remember the name so easily.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
BENY: We have had many good shows, some as I recall at this moment: Our first show last week for the TIYR album release was a a blast. It was great to see so many people supporting us. Performances at Metalcamp and Metaldays were awesome etc. Just come and see us and we promise you that you will enjoy:)
ROK: Also the gigs we played with James Rivera over Europe were awesome. The expirences were crazy and also educational at some point. The main thing on our shows is to entertain people and to get them involved in the show so they can interact with us.
7.DO you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
ROK: We are currently talking with some booking agencies so we will see what happens. Hope to come to your city soon.
BENY: We boked some shows in Slovenia including the gig on the Metaldays 2014. It will be awesome.
8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of metal?
BENY: It has been positive. People seem to dig our music and that`s great! We are happy for each and everyone that likes our music and supports us through all these years.
9.Can you tell us a little bit more about the other musical project that a couple of the band members participate in?
ROK: Yeah we have some projects. One of them is Sabbath Judas Sabbath with James Rivera. We play some shows in Europe every year and we always have a great time. Otherwise we are also involved in some different musical side-projects but our main thing is Metalsteel.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
BENY: Now we are focused on promotion of the THIS IS YOUR REVELATION album as it deserves it.
ROK: We will seee what happens. We make our music with heart and we never plan what the outcome will be. But we are sure that this album will get the attention that is needed.
11.What are some bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
BENY: I like Children Of Bodom, Hardcore Superstar, Pain, Nightwish etc.
ROK: I am more into 70`s music. Currently I`m discovering the music of Gentle Giant, old Yes albums, ELP, Taste etc. Our bass player likes Dream Theater and our drummer Dasa is mainly into old school 80`s heavy metal. We all love Iron Maiden:)
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
BENY: Snowboarding, gym, cycling.
ROK: I like fishing:)
14.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?
