XII Boar are a band from t he United Kingdom t hat plays a mixture of stoner, sludge, doom metal and hard rock and this is a review of their self released 2011 ep "XII".
A very heavy sound starts off the ep along with some aggressive vocals and the energy of punk rock and they also add in the heaviness of sludge as well as adding in solos and leads that bring a stoner rock vibe to the bands musical sound and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Slow doom metal guitar riffs can be heard in the bands musical sound at times and the second track sees the band bringing in a brief use of clean playing along with some classic rock elements along with a brief use of bass leads and the band also brings in some of the 90's southern metal sound into their musical style at times and they also bring in a brief instrumental before bringing back vocals on the last track.
XII Boar brings in a very old school and retro sound that is very heavy along with a great amount of energy that the bring in their southern influence sludge metal style, the production sounds very heavy while the lyrics cover real life themes.
In my opinion XII Boar are a very great sounding mixture of doom metal, sludge, southern and stoner rock and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should c heck out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beg, Borrow, Steal" and "S.K.O.L.". 8 out of 10.
