Studfaust are a band from Norway that plays a mixture of rock, metal and punk and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Where The Underdogs bark" which will be released in August by Soulseller Records.
A very old school punk metal sound starts off the album along with some aggressive vocals and after awhile the music starts utilizing some melody along with some rock'n'roll style guitar leads and the music is heavily influenced by the metal and punk scenes from the mid 70's to early 80's while also having a more updated take on the style.
All of the musical instruments on the ep have a very powerful sound to them and the music sticks to mostly a fast direction while some of the alter tracks shows the band adding in some slow to mid paced sections which bring a heavier feeling to their musical style and they also bring in a slight thrash influence to their musical style and on the last track there are some melodic vocals added into the music.
Studfaust stay away from all traces of death and black metal which seem of their band members are very well known for and go for a more raw and old school mixture of punk and metal while still having a good amount of heaviness to t hem, the production sounds very old school yet professional at the same time while the lyrics cover dark and real life themes.
In my opinion Studfaust are a very great sounding mixture of heavy metal, rock and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Half Human, Half Dynamite" "Hell Is Full" and 1980's Ladies". 8 out of 10.
